Take the Train to Your Plane

In cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, Ethiopian Airlines offers its passengers the opportunity to travel with Deutsche Bahn from almost all DB stations in Germany to Frankfurt Airport.

Important information

• For Rail&Fly ticket, rail segment service to/from Frankfurt from any Deutsche Bahn service in Germany, a surcharge will be automatically added to your booking.
• Train segment will be included in your itinerary
• Due to technical reasons, the journey times stated in your booking are fictitious.  During check-in, you need to select a specific train connection.
• DB Rail&Fly tickets are only valid on DB trains. Please note that Rail&Fly is not available for multiple-stop bookings.
• Rail&Fly must be booked with the booking done for flying. It cannot be added online once the booking is completed.
• Passengers traveling in Business class on an Ethiopian flight will be entitled to travel in the 1st class compartment of Deutsche Bahn, while economy class passengers will travel in the 2nd class compartment.
• If you rebook after the train ticket has been collected, you need to check in again on www.rail-checkin.com for the rebooked segment.

Seat reservations are free on ET flights. If you booked a 1st class train ticket, a seat reservation is included free of charge. You will find the assigned seats on your train ticket. If you booked a 2nd class train ticket, you can purchase a seat reservation on www.bahn.com, the app “DB Navigator” or at any DB travel center. 

How to get your Rail&Fly train tickets

 1. Check-in on  www.rail-checkin.com 

You need to check-in on www.rail-checkin.com before departure to retrieve your Train Ticket. It is recommended to check in as early as possible.

Six steps to the Train Ticket:

1. Open the website www.rail-checkin.com
2. Identification of the passenger(s) while entering name and either flight e-ticket number or record locator
3. Selection of the passenger and outbound/inbound trip. Here up to 4 additional passengers can be added if they are using the same train for the entire route and are listed in the same flight booking.
4. Selection of train connection
5. Booking overview to be confirmed by passenger
6. Train Ticket available for download and sent via e-mail to passenger

2. Choose your train connections

Due to technical reasons, your itinerary is showing fictitious train numbers (starting with W2), fictitious departure points (QYG), and fictitious times for the train segment. This data is not valid, a check-in process on www.rail-checkin.com is required. During check-in, you need to select a specific train. You can select a connection on the day of your flight departure and the day before, respectively on the day of your flight arrival and the day after. Please note that the selected day and route are binding. Ensure that you are arriving on time at the airport. Please note the check-in times of Ethiopian Airlines at the respective airport and choose a train connection to arrive at the check-in desk at least 2 hours before it closes.

Please also consider that train delays might occur. It is solely the responsibility of the passenger to arrive at the airport in time for check-in.
