Ethiopian offers a wide selection of online payment options for customers to buy their ticket online. Here below are types of payment options which are available to make payment easier for our esteemed customers.
Giropay is the official implementation of German banks for online banking. It is supported by most German public and cooperative banks. When paying with giropay, the passenger will be redirected to their bank's website or app to complete the payment. After completing the payment passenger will receive immediate Confirmation of whether the payment was successful or not.
SOFORT Banking is a real-time bank transfer payment method that passengers based in Germany can use to transfer funds directly to Ethiopian airlines from their bank accounts. Passenger enters their sort code/bank code. They enter a username and password to login to their bank account. They then enter a transaction authentication number (TAN) or equivalent depending on the country and their bank.
EPS online bank transfer is a secure payment method that is offered by the Austrian banks. It allows account holders to easily and quickly pay for purchases using their own trusted online banking service. Upon purchase, the passengers logs into their own online bank and authorizes the payment. The funds are then directly debited from their bank account in real-time and Ethiopian airlines will receive an immediate payment confirmation.
iDEAL is the most used online banking method in the Netherlands, supported by all the major Dutch consumer banks. When passengers pay with iDEAL, they will be presented with a list of issuing banks. After the passengers selects an issuing bank, they will be redirected to the bank's website or mobile app to complete the payment.
Sheba pay is an instant bank transfer option that ET introduces in partnership with IATA. The scheme enables real-time payments from customers who book tickets on the airlines mobile application, with the money transferred directly to the carrier without the involvement of third-parties.
Swish is a Swedish mobile payment system with more than 5 million users. Swish requires that both the merchant and the customer has a Swedish bank account. Passengers can also pay with Swish when shopping online or in mobile apps from ET website. The money will be sent directly into the airlines account, no matter which one of the participant banks they have. If they are registered for swish payment, passengers can start the payment process by downloading the Swish app and by inserting their Mobile BankID to their mobile phone. Once they have finished those steps their bank account is connected to their mobile phone number and they can begin sending and receiving money easily using their mobile phone.. When shoppers choose to pay with Swish on ET website using their mobile devices, they will be redirected to their Swish app to make the payment. The amount will be transferred to the airline account and ticket will be issued in real-time.
Ethiopian Airlines accepts credit and debit cards when they are branded as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, China Union Pay, JCB and UATP.
MTN Mobile Money is a secure electronic service that enables MTN Mobile Money wallet holders to store funds, send and receive money, make payments and do a number of other transactions simply using their mobile phone. It's fast, simple, convenient and affordable. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use MTN to make their ticket payment from Uganda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Zambia, Rwanda and Cameron
Mobi Cash is a mobile wallet payment activated from Mali and Burkina Faso. Passengers from these countries will be prompted on their mobile number as they select Mobi Cash on Ethiopian website. They need to accept and follow the required payment instructions and will be required their PIN number to authorize the payment. After the payment is completed, ticket will be issued and sent to the passenger’s email address.
Orange Money is a mobile wallet payment activated from Ivory coast, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameron, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Mali. Passengers from these countries will be prompted on their mobile number as they select Orange money on Ethiopian website. They need to accept and follow the required payment instructions and will be required their PIN number to authorize the payment. After the payment is completed, ticket will be issued and sent to the passenger’s email address.
Vodacom M-Pesa lets you convert cash into mobile money by visiting any authorized Vodacom M-Pesa outlet. Once you have money in your M-Pesa account, you can send it to anyone, anywhere in the country. You are also able to buy Vodacom airtime for yourself and others. Vodacom M-Pesa available from Tanzania .
Vodafone's M-Pesa mobile money transfer allow users to make payment from their mobile wallet. Currently Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Vodafone to make their ticket payment from Ghana.
Equitel is a mobile payment option from Kenya. This option is supported by Cellulant.
Airtel Africa plc, trading as Airtel, is an Indian multinational company that provides telecommunications and mobile money services in 14 countries in Africa. Currently Ethiopian airlines customers can pay using Airtel from Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Tigo Cash is a mobile phone–based money transfer service offered with Tigo phones in eleven countries including Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ghana. Currently Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Tigo to make their ticket payment from Ghana and Tanzania.
M-Pesa (M for mobile, pesa is Swahili for money) is a mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service, launched in 2007 by Vodafone for Safaricom and Vodacom. It has since expanded to Tanzania, Mozambique, DRC, Lesotho, Ghana, Egypt, Afghanistan, South Africa and Ethiopia. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Mpesa from Ethiopia, Kenya and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Alipay is a popular payment method that passengers based in China use to make payments online from their Alipay eWallet. With over one billion users, Alipay handles more than half of China's payments and transformed a cash market into a card-trusting market with their eWallet. Built by internet shopping giant Alibaba to make it easier for their shoppers to buy and sell on their trading site, Alipay is now so popular that passengers prefer to pay by mobile device in stores and online. Ethiopian airlines activated Alipay payment option on its mobile application. Currently this option is not available on ET website.
PayPal is a secure, quick and easy form of online payment that provides the security and convenience of paying with your bank or credit/debit card without entering your account number. For customers having PayPal account, they can make payment on a dedicated Ethiopian page on PayPal website and confirm the payment of your ticket. Ethiopian will issue their ticket once payment confirmation is received.
WeChat Pay is an e-Wallet payment method, incorporated into the WeChat app. It is one of the most popular payment methods in China, with over 600 million active users. Ethiopian airlines activated WeChat pay payment option on its mobile application specifically on android mobile can make payment by using WeChat. Currently the option is not available on IOS and on ET website.
AlBaraka branch payment option allow passengers from Sudan to make payment to any nearby AlBaraka branch for the booking they made online. The payment must be finalized within 6 hours after the booking was made. Passenger should give the booking reference and the ticket value to the tellers to make the payment.
Passengers can make payment through a mobile banking options from a number of African countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia and others. By this payment method passengers will not be expected to travel to the banks in person rather they can make the payment electronically.
Elo is one of the major domestic debit and credit card brands of Brazil. The scheme can support credit and prepaid transactions. Elo is a pure domestic card brand in Brazil and only allows for transactions in Brazilian Real currency. The Elo credit card supports installment that allows the passenger to spread their payments for online purchases over a certain period of time. Ethiopian airlines accept Installment payment from Brazil through Elo card.
Hipercard is a Brazilian card scheme that's widely accepted in the retail market. Hipercards are issued by Itaú bank and allow passengers to make payment in installments. Hipercard is one of the popular credit card used for online purchase in Brazil. Ethiopian airlines accept Installment payment from Brazil through Hiper card.
KNET is the dominant card-base payment in Kuwait and provides a hosted payment process, i.e, the customers are redirected to KNET payment gateway after they make their booking and choose KNET as the payment method. The passengers has to enter the card details, confirm them and complete the payment process on the web page hosted by KNET payment gateway.
Verve International is a Nigerian card brand owned by Interswitch Group. Verve is a debit card brand in Nigeria. Ethiopian Passengers can make payment by using Verve card from Nigeria.
Bancontact is the most popular payment method in Belgium, and the market leader for both online and in-store transactions. Paying with Bancontact is like a regular card payment, except that there is no security code, and 3D Secure is mandatory.

It allows consumers to order goods and services online, and pay for them over the counter at a convenience store.</div><div>After shoppers select to pay through Japanese convenience stores on Ethiopian Airlines website:</div><div>1. Passengers are prompted to provide their full name, telephone number, and email address.</div><div>2. Depending on the convenience store the shopper selects, they will be presented with the voucher within ET website. The voucher is also sent to the shopper's email.</div><div>3. Passengers can then go to a 7-Eleven or other Japanese convenience stores to complete the payment. They need to provide the reference number and their phone number to get a voucher ticket.</div><div>4. Passengers present the voucher ticket to the cashier, and pays in cash.</div><div>5. Shopper receives a receipt as proof of payment.</div><div>The offer stays open up to 3 days. This means shoppers can complete their payment up to 3 days after the voucher was generated</div>
